The NBA is one of the most exciting leagues in America, but for whatever reason it always seems to come down to a single team. The Milwaukee Bucks are hands-down this year’s best. Their players have never been more skilled and their chemistry has never been stronger. Here are five reasons why they deserve your attention as an avid basketball fan or casual observer.
So far this season, the Milwaukee Bucks have gone up against some of the best teams in the NBA. They’ve withstood all that pressure and are currently sitting at number one in their conference. Here’s five reasons why they’re having such a successful year so far!The “giannis antetokounmpo” is one of the best players in the NBA. He is a 6’11” point guard who can shoot, pass, and dribble. The Milwaukee Bucks are also one of the best teams in the league.
The Milwaukee Bucks dominated the 2021 playoffs, finishing 16-7 and won the championship. For what felt like a week, the national media gave Giannis and company their due credit, then the asterisks started to fly.
Some of the things we heard were:
Despite the fact that James Harden and Kyrie Irving were injured during the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Nets took the Bucks to seven games.
The Atlanta Hawks were a weak team with little experience to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Suns were outmatched in the finals, making it to the last round only because they had to play the Lakers without AD in the first round, the Nuggets without Jamal Murray in the semis, and the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard in the Western Conference Finals.
Almost every basketball analyst had the Nets and the Lakers ahead of Milwaukee this season throughout the summer.
The Bucks were paying attention.
On opening night, they blew away the much-hyped Nets by 23 points, putting the league on notice that they’re still the greatest team in the league.
Following that, we’ll go over five reasons why the reigning champions are atop our power rankings.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo Is The World’s Best Player
Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is 26 years old, has the following resume:
– NBA Champion in 2021
– MVP of the NBA Finals
– Two-time NBA MVP
– Most Valuable Defensive Player
– Player Who Has Improved the Most
– Five-time NBA All-Star
– MVP of the NBA All-Star Game
– 5x NBA All-Star selection
Despite this, Kevin Durant was rated ahead of Giannis at the start of the season on virtually every major sports publication. Luka Doncic was also shown in front of Giannis Antetokounmpo and even LeBron James on several websites.
Giannis had a game-high +25 +/- rating while scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 blocks against the Brooklyn Nets. Most NBA players would kill for those kinds of statistics only once in their careers, yet they strangely match “The Greek Freak’s” figures from last season, when he averaged 28.1 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, 5.9 assists per game, and 1.2 blocks per game.
The NBA’s attention has shifted to shooting as a result of Stephen Curry’s defense bending three-point stroke. But why is that?
Last year, the Bucks won the championship by shooting 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.
In 2020, the Lakers won the trophy despite shooting 35.4 percent from outside the arc, which was below league average.
With a 34.6 three-point percentage, the Toronto Raptors won everything in 2019.
Even when the Golden State Warriors won the championship in 2018, they were 10th in three-point shooting in the playoffs, making just 35.7 percent of their tries.
Obviously, three-point shooting isn’t the key to a championship. Strong defense, terrific rebounding, and superstars making amazing isolation plays during crucial circumstances are what win championships.
All of the criteria are checked by Giannis.
Only Anthony Davis comes close to matching his quickness in guarding perimeter players and his power in locking down big guys down low. He chases down rebounds like no other player in the NBA, and he’s unafraid to drive to the basket late in games.
Kevin Durant is a Hall of Famer, and LeBron James has the potential to be the GOAT. Luka Doncic, who is just 22 years old, is doing things we’ve never seen before. They’ll never be able to equal Giannis’ two-way effect on the game.
The Milwaukee Bucks have the league’s best defense.
The Milwaukee Bucks had the tenth highest defensive rating in the NBA last season, with an unimpressive 111.4. Then came the playoffs, and the Bucks crushed the opponents, finally capturing the championship with the best defense in the tournament.
Bucks are a lengthy team.
Check out the stats for each member of the Bucks’ starting lineup for 2021-2022:
– Jrue Holiday’s wingspan is 6’7″.
– Grayson Allen’s wingspan is 6’6″.
– Khris Middleton’s wingspan is 6’11”.
– Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wingspan is 7’3″.
– Brook Lopez’s wingspan is 7’6″.
On opening night, the Bucks used their length to cause the Brooklyn Nets, perhaps the greatest shooting team in the NBA, to make just 44% of their total field goal attempts. That wasn’t an isolated incident, either. Last season, the Bucks’ starting big men, Brook Lopez and Giannis Antetokounmpo, combined to guard the rim better than virtually any other frontcourt pair in the NBA. Lopez restricted his opponents to a 3.2 percent lower than average field goal percentage, while Giannis suffocated the players he defended to a 4.6 percent lower mark.
Milwaukee’s formidable defense hides behind their length. They operate as a team, never skipping an assignment, and, as we saw against the Nets, this group isn’t in any kind of championship funk. The Bucks seemed to be playing at a better level than the Nets throughout the night, which is a poor indicator for the rest of the NBA.
Khris Middleton Is Currently One Of The Most Underappreciated Players In The Game.
If you follow the NBA, you’re well aware of Khris Middleton’s shooting skills. During the 2019-2020 season, he hit 45.2 percent of his 2.9 catch-and-shoot three-point tries per game, while he hit 43.1 percent of his catch-and-shoot three-point attempts previous year.
You’re also aware that Khris Middleton is a top-notch defender. Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer has repeatedly charged Middleton with protecting the other team’s finest offensive weapon over the previous several seasons. Last season, he restricted his guy to a paltry 46.7 percent field goal percentage, and in 2019-2020, he kept him to a very solid 40.5 percent from the field.
What you may not know is that during last year’s playoffs, Khris Middleton went from maybe the finest 3-and-D winger in the league to a legitimate star. In today’s NBA, superstars are judged on their ability to score playoff points when a halfcourt possession stalls and the opposition defense is set. Khris Middleton has struggled with isolation play types in the past. He averaged 0.85 points per possession in the 2019 playoffs, placing him in the 42 percentile of all postseason players. Then he went worse in the 2020 playoffs, averaging just 0.80 PPP, which put him in the 24th percentile. Middleton finally broke through in the 2021 playoffs, averaging 1.06 PPP, good for 15th in the league and better than Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Luka Doncic.
When rival teams ratcheted up their defensive effort because they didn’t have a player who could get his own bucket when Giannis was double-teamed, the Milwaukee Bucks’ offense stagnated in the playoffs during the last three seasons. Now, in Khris Middleton, Milwaukee possesses that player, which is one of the key reasons why this version of the Bucks is the favorite to win the championship in 2022.
Jrue Holiday Is An All-Star Point Guard.
Throughout the summer, we heard a lot about the Brooklyn Nets’ Big Three and the Lakers’ wonderful new Trio. Fast forward to opening night, and Kyrie Irving is still at home, refusing to get immunized. Kevin Durant and James Harden are now Brooklyn’s Big 2. Russell Westbrook is still with the Lakers, but he struggled mightily in preseason, averaging 9.5 points per game on 35% shooting and more turnovers than assists or rebounds. On opening night, things got much worse. As the Lakers fell to the Golden State Warriors, Westbrook shot 0 for 4 from three-point range and scored just eight points. Sure, it’s early, and Westbrook may improve, but the Lakers are now down to a Big 2 consisting of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Why hasn’t anybody mentioned the Big Three, the reigning champions?
Along with Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday is the front wheel of the Bucks’ tricycle of devastation.
Despite averaging 21.2 points per game and 7.7 assists per game in 2019, 19.1 points per game and 6.7 assists per game in 2020, and 17.7 points per game and 6.1 assists per game last season, Jrue Holiday has only made one All-Star squad. It may seem unjust, but it doesn’t change Jrue Holiday’s status as a two-way force.
Jrue Holiday, at 6’3″ and 205 pounds, is one of the league’s most physical point guards. Because larger players like James Harden, Ben Simmons, and Kyle Lowry are accustomed to harassing smaller point guards, he’s a superb defender against them. When they’re up against Holiday’s power, they often struggle to get the shots they’re used to.
Holiday struggled from three-point range when he first joined the league, but he’s improved year after year, and last season he broke into the top tier of shooters by making 39 percent of his three-point attempts on over five attempts each night. Jrue Holiday has evolved into a true three-level menace. He nailed 70 percent of his shots near the rim last season, and even more impressively, 53 percent of his jumpers from 10 to 16 feet.
Jrue Holiday isn’t as well-known as Kyrie Irving or Russell Westbrook, for example. Even yet, when you include his defensive abilities, three-point shot, and midrange game, you have one of the finest point guards in the league.

Last season, Donte DiVincenzo averaged 10.4 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, and 3.1 assists per game.
Last season, Bobby Portis scored 11.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from outside the arc.
Rodney Hood only played in five games last season due to a ruptured Achilles, but he has a lifetime average of 11.3 points per game, 37.3% shooting, and 2.7 rebounds per game.
For the Bucks, these three guys make a remarkable trio of role players. One of these would be ideal for almost any squad. But here’s the thing: All three players were out against the Nets on opening night due to injury, but the Bucks roster is so deep that they didn’t skip a beat as they thrashed Kevin Durant and company.
Grayson Allen is a new addition to the Bucks’ roster. The former Duke hero is a hard-nosed defender who is unfazed from long range. He’s a terrific match for the Bucks’ scheme.
George Hill seems to have played for every club in the league, but he’s a savvy veteran who’s settled in Milwaukee. He’s the kind of man who can eat up minutes when Jrue Holiday is resting.
Brook Lopez, the Bucks’ power forward, is a huge guy. He is 7’0″ tall and has one of the league’s biggest wingspans. He has a good outside shot, but his main effect is on the less glamorous side of the ball, where he utilizes his length to frustrate opponents close to the basket.
Finally, Pat Connaughton must be mentioned. He defends as hard as anybody in the league, and he showed off an improved three-point shot last season, converting on 37% of his three-point tries.
